At Dataseam, we understand the importance of supporting talent early in their careers. That’s why we are particularly excited about the US Department of Labor-approved Registered Apprenticeship (RA) Program.
Dataseam’s Information Technology Registered Apprenticeship offers professional opportunities to high school juniors and seniors, aimed at bridging the opportunity for work-based education and digital access many rural Kentucky communities experience. This 2-year competency-based program is geared towards inspiring next steps in careers as part of students learning key skills to preparing them for their college and career paths.
Quentin Mueller is a 2023 graduate of Lewis County Schools. Mueller was recognized as Dataseam’s first Work Valedictorian, earning a $1,000 award from the program. At 1,345 On-Job hours during the two-year program, Quentin worked over twice the amount required for completion. Not only do these hours provide him an increased opportunity for mastery of skills, it shows potential employers Quentin’s willingness to put in the necessary time to finish the job!
He is studying Computer Information Systems at Shawnee State University while still working for the Lewis County School District.
Robel Schwarz is a 2023 graduate of Williamsburg Independent School. Schwarz excelled with the program’s Related Technical Instruction (RTI), scoring the highest in his Registered Apprenticeship Cohort.
Schwarz is majoring in Computer Science at the University of Louisville J.B. Speed Engineering School. Robel is a McConnell Scholar, a Woodford R. Porter Scholar, a participant in the University of Louisville Brown-Forman Engineering Academy, and is one of three Kentucky recipients of the $40,000 Amazon Scholars Award. Robel was a 2022 Governor’s Scholar Program participant and also recently awarded a scholarship from the University of Louisville Brandeis School of Law intended to incentivize Robel to pursue his law degree with a focus on Intellectual Property when he finishes his engineering studies in five years.
Recently, Robel assisted with setting up the Dataseam Learning Lab, a new training facility to improve delivery of workforce outcomes to participating K-12 employer partners statewide.
We are excited to support Quentin, Robel, and the other Registered Apprentices finishing the Dataseam program and advancing to the next place in their careers. Armed with a better understanding how to best leverage in-demand skills but most importantly, two years of practical work experience invaluable in the eyes of future employers, Dataseam Registered Apprentices are competitive to enter the workforce with meaningful employment.
