Dataseam has announced that Harrison County Public Schools, Cynthiana, Kentucky, unanimously voted to join the statewide Dataseam partnership at their August 2024 Board of Education meeting.
“We are excited to have Harrison County Schools as our newest member and help provide advanced opportunity for their students,” said Brian Gupton, Dataseam CEO. “As next-generation workforce demands increase statewide, partnerships with schools like this will help ensure Kentucky students are best prepared to meet them.”
Dataseam, a nonprofit education and workforce development organization, provides technology and workforce training through industry-standard certification and US Department of Labor-approved Registered Apprenticeships in information technology. Participating public schools, generally the largest employer in most 120 Kentucky counties, earn high-end Apple workstations addressing curriculum needs reflective of a knowledge-based workforce. These computers comprise the statewide DataseamGrid supporting the Commonwealth’s research and commercialization efforts at the University of Louisville’s Brown Cancer Center.
Dataseam now serves 56 Kentucky districts statewide accounting for 40% of the state’s approximately 630,000 K-12 public school students.
Harrison County Schools Superintendent Dr. Harry Burchett shared, “The opportunity to work with Dataseam and the University of Louisville in cancer research is a Win-Win-Win for our students, staff and community. Nearly everyone knows someone that has been impacted by cancer and this partnership will help provide our students and staff with cutting edge technology, professional training and opportunities for student apprenticeships while also supporting cancer research at the James Graham Brown Cancer Center in Louisville. Together, on the Harrison Hilltop, Where Education and Opportunity Meet Success, we are combatting cancer and growing the leaders of tomorrow.”
Harrison County Schools Board Chair, Mrs. Kristy Carey stated, “This is another example of the great things happening in our community schools. As a board, we are always excited to support new and expanding opportunities that promote learning and leadership for our students, staff and community.”
Harrison County Public Schools, located in north-central Kentucky, serves approximately 2,900 students grades K-12. The district is in the midst of a three-phased approach to increase opportunities for all students in grades K-12. “Growing Tomorrow’s Leaders Today” a central theme of the district is evident in their initiatives. Harrison County has embraced a systems wide approach using Covey’s – Leader in Me structures to teach the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. Aligning all teaching and learning in a deeper learning model while also re-imagining and expanding their Hilltop Campus to house all K-12 education, Harrison County Public Schools is increasing safety, improving efficiency, and expanding opportunities for student success. With the construction of a new state of the art high school and technology center, Harrison County Public Schools is prepared to meet the needs of all students as well as the workforce demands of the region at large.
Gupton continues, “Dr. Burchett will bring new opportunities to the Harrison County students and staff he serves. Working in his previous role with Johnson County Schools, their technical and instructional teams earned in excess of $1,130,000 of new classroom technology through Dataseam. For a district of roughly 3,200 students, that was a significant resource to impact student outcomes. We welcome his voice again amongst our Dataseam district leaders shaping the mission and look forward to serving the students and staff alongside him and the Harrison County team.”
